Dayton returns to Time Warner Cable Stadium to close out the home portion of its schedule against George Washington this weekend. The Flyers and Colonials will play on Friday (2:30 p.m. ET), Saturday (1 PM ET) and Sunday (Noon ET) in games that will feature Gametracker at www.DaytonFlyers.com. Saturday's game will also be designated as Senior Day for 10 Flyers that will conclude their careers this year. Senior Michael Massa enters his final series at Time Warner Cable Stadium looking to put a stamp on a career that has seen him perform as one of the best all-around players in program history. Already the UD career leader in runs scored and triples, Massa will take over sole possession of the all-time lead in another category with his next successful stolen base. He is also just the second Flyer ever to record at least 250 base hits in a career and enters this weekend just 10 hits shy of the top spot all-time at Dayton. Massa had started 200 consecutive games at shorstop for the Flyers and also ranks fifth all-time in walks and hit by pitch in his career. Sophomore Jeff Mercer has staked his claim as a future leader with a team-highs of nine homers and 39 RBI this season. Mercer has homered in seven of the 19 conference games in which he has played including a game-winning blast to left field in the 12th inning last Saturday at La Salle. Overall, he is hitting .328 with 10 doubles and 29 runs scored this season. Following this weekend, the Flyers will play four games on the road next week. UD will face Eastern Kentucky on Tuesday before heading to Saint Louis for a three-game set with the Billikens to close out the regular season. All four games can be followed with Live Stats at www.DaytonFlyers.com. |
