Dayton looks the break out of a slump that has seen it drop eight of its last nine games with a non-conference road trip to Ohio on Tuesday. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. ET for a contest that can be followed with Gametracker at www.DaytonFlyers.com. UD has had 24 of its 46 games this season decided by two runs or less and the Flyers hold a 9-15 record in those contests. Dayton is 5-10 in one-run games this season, but won its last contest against a Mid-American Conference opponent, 9-8 in 12 innings at Bowling Green. Overall, UD is 4-2 in extra inning games including wins in three different 12-inning contests. The Flyers have been hit by pitch 93 times in 46 games, which leads the nation in times hit by pitch overall and per game (2.02). UD has already broken the school and Atlantic 10 Conference records this season. Dayton also ranks 15th all-time on the NCAA single-season list and is just seven shy of becoming the 12th team ever to be hit by pitch 100 times in a single-season. Scott Dunwoody and Joe McSoley are tied for the team lead with 12 each for the Flyers. In contrast, UD pitchers have plunked just 49 opponents in 46 games played. Dayton returns to Time Warner Cable Stadium to close out the home portion of its schedule against George Washington this weekend. The Flyers and Colonials will play on Friday (2:30 p.m. ET), Saturday (1 PM ET) and Sunday (Noon ET) in games that will feature Live Audio and Gametracker at www.DaytonFlyers.com. Saturday's game will also be designated as Senior Day for 10 Flyers that will conclude their careers this year. |
