CINCINNATI - Luke Trubee became the career leader in wins at Dayton as he took advantage of a strong offensive effort by the Flyers in a 16-0 rout at Xavier in the second game of an Atlantic 10 doubleheader Sunday at Hayden Field.

The win kept Dayton in second place in the A-10 West Division with a 13-7 conference record and secured UD's third-ever 30 win season with a 30-20 overall record.

Trubee improved to an A-10 best 11-2 this season and 20-6 in his career at Dayton. He struck out four while surrendering just four hits in a complete-game shutout.

Dayton out hit Xavier 15-4 as eight Flyers had at least one hit including six multi-hit games. Galen Schumm led the way as he finished 3-for-5 with a home run, two runs scored and two RBI.

Joe McSoley also added three hits as part of a 3-for-5 game which included two runs scored and four RBI.

Brandon Godzik was 2-for-4 with a home run of his own, two runs scored and two RBI. Jeff Mercer and Aaron Hepner also had two hits a piece while Hepner also scored and drove in a run.

Michael Massa finished 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI to increase his hitting streak to a personal best 13 games.

The Flyers got on the board first in the second inning with a pair of runs. Godzik got things started as he ripped a single to right field. He then moved to second on a ground out. McSoley sent Godzik home on an RBI single to center for the first run of the game. Mercer kept things going with a single to left, which gave UD runners on first and second. Massa then drove in McSoley with a single up the middle to give the Flyers a 2-0 advantage midway through the second.

Godzik added to Dayton's lead in the third with his sixth home run of the season. After Getty reached on a fielding error, Godzik smashed a two-run shot to left field and gave UD a 4-0 lead midway through the third frame.

Hepner started off the fourth with a line-drive single up the middle. He moved to second on a sacrifice and then scored on a single to right center by Schumm to put the Flyers on top 5-0.

UD added seven more runs in the sixth inning as the Flyers sent 10 runners to the plate. Chandler, McSoley, Mercer and Hepner each picked an RBI in the inning to stretch Dayton's lead to 12-0 midway through the sixth frame.

The Flyers then added four more runs in the seventh to close out the scoring and Xavier's chances for a comeback with a 16-0 victory.
