Box Score

AMBLER, PA - Visiting Dayton made just one error in the game but the miscue proved to be costly in a 1-0 loss at Temple in the opener of an Atlantic 10 doubleheader Saturday.

A throwing error on a stolen base attempt in the bottom of the first inning allowed the only run of the game to score for the Owls as the Flyers fell to 28-22 overall and 10-12 in Atlantic 10 Conference play.

Senior Lucas Farden tossed his third complete game in the past four weekends against A-10 competition. Farden (4-7) suffered the loss despite striking out six and surrendering just one unearned run on five hits and one walk.

The Flyer offense could not take advantage of three Owl fielding errors, three walks and four base hits as UD stranded 11 runners on base including the bases loaded in the top of the ninth inning.

Marshall MacDonald, Ryan Nevill, Max Navalinski and Jacob Spaeth each singled once for Dayton while Nevill joined Kevin Miller and Scott Dunwoody by also reaching base with a walk.

Cole Tyrell saw a 15-game hitting streak come to an end with a 0-for-2 effort, but he was hit by pitch in his first two at bats to bring his season total to 16, which is the fourth highest total in Flyer single-season history.
