ATHENS, Ohio - Visiting Dayton could not recover from an early barrage by Ohio as the Flyers lost to the Bobcats, 20-3 on Tuesday in non-conference baseball action. The Flyers (18-29) will host their final homestand of the season this weekend against George Washington in three-games that can be followed with Gametracker at www.DaytonFlyers.com.

UD scored just three runs despite collecting 11 hits as a team. Four Flyers tallied multi-hit performances including Bobby Getty, Jeff Mercer and Michael DeLuca who each singled and doubled while Mercer added two RBI.

Scott Dunwoody also singled twice while scoring a run for Dayton which lost for the ninth time in its last 10 games.

The Flyers were also hit by pitch three times in the contest. Kevin Miller was plunked twice and Frank Tedesco was hit once as UD increased its NCAA leading total to 96 on the season. Dayton is just four shy of becoming the 12th team in NCAA history to be hit by pitch 100 times in a single-season.

Five UD hurlers combined to allow 14 earned runs as Dayton was victimized by four errors in the field. Freshman Chris Beesley allowed nine runs, just three of which were earned, on nine hits to suffer his first loss of the season. He struck out three and walked none in 4.0 innings pitched.
