CHARLOTTE, NC - Home runs by a trio of Flyers and a complete-game effort by sophomore Quinn Haselhorst helped Dayton down #23 Charlotte, 7-1 in the second of a three-game Atlantic 10 baseball series on Saturday afternoon. The Flyers (17-20, 6-8 A-10) will wrap up its series with the 49ers on Sunday at Noon ET.

Bobby Getty, Jeff Mercer and Joe McSoley each homered for UD, which out hit Charlotte for the second straight game, 11-7. Dayton also had four extra-base hits to Charlotte's one.

Getty's lone hit of the day was a two-run blast down the left field line in the seventh inning. Mercer followed with a solo shot to left field on the next at bat as part of a 2-for-5 afternoon.

McSoley added a solo homer to leadoff the fourth inning. He finished with three RBI overall after a RBI single in the first inning and a sacrifice fly in the fifth frame for the Flyers.

Scott Dunwoody went 3-for-5 with three runs scored while Myles Swartzel doubled en route to a 2-for-5 finish.

Sophomore Quinn Haselhorst did not allow a run until the eighth inning while improving to 2-3 on the year. The lefthander scattered seven hits on the afternoon while striking out three and walking just one.

Scott Dunwoody started the offense early for the Flyers with a one-out single to right centerfield in the top of the first inning. After fly out, Dunwoody went first to third on a single to left centerfield by Jeff Mercer. Joe McSoley followed with a of his own single to left field and UD went ahead, 1-0.

McSoley continued hit hot streak against the 49ers with a leadoff homer in the top of the fourth inning and a sacrifice fly in the fifth frame that allowed Scott Dunwoody to score after reaching base on an infield single for a 3-0 Dayton advantage.

Dunwoody started off with another leadoff infield hit in the top of the seventh inning. Bobby Getty took advantage on the next at bat with his fourth home run of the season on a blast down the left field line. UD then went back-to-back for the first time this season as Jeff Mercer lifted a round tripper to left field to chase the Charlotte starter from the game. After the pitching change, Joe McSoley was hit by a pitch, and moved to third when Myles Swartzel doubled to centerfield. Then with runners on second and third and one out, Michael DeLuca was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Shawn Gizynski plated the final run of the day for the Flyers with a sacrifice fly to center field as UD went ahead 7-0.

Charlotte scratched across a run in the bottom of the eighth on a one-out RBI single by Shayne Moody, but Haselhorst was strong throughout in a 7-1 Flyer victory.
