CINCINNATI - Dayton had its four-game winning streak snapped at the hands of Cincinnati after an 11-8 loss to the Bearcats at UC Baseball Stadium on Wednesday. UD (20-14) looks to get back on track when its hosts Xavier in a three-game Atlantic 10 Conference series on Friday (2:30 p.m.), Saturday (1 p.m.) and Sunday (Noon).

The trio of Craig Rohren, Josh Burt and Bryan Chandler collected two RBI each for the Flyers. Rohren and Burt were each 1-for-4 with a home run while Chandler was 1-for-3 with a walk.

Michael Massa continued his hitting streak to 13 consecutive games with an infield single in the fifth inning. Massa finished 1-for-4 with a run scored.

Six different Flyers took to the mound on the night. Senior Luke Trubee suffered the loss after allowing four runs on two hits to the seven batters he faced.

UD also played its second straight game without Head Coach Tony Vittorio in the dugout. Vittorio is hospitalized in the Pittsburgh area with a stomach ailment. He is expected to return home this weekend.

Dayton got off to a good start with a three-run second inning. After Benoit was hit by a pitch with one out, Rohren raked a home run to left centerfield. Then after a groundout, Burt smacked a solo shot to left centerfield for a 3-0 Flyer lead.

UC answered back with a nine-run outburst in the bottom of the second. The Bearcats sent 13 batters to the plate and collected seven hits including a two-run homer by Logan Parker for a 9-3 advantage.

UD produced a run in the top of the third to make it a five-run deficit. McSoley singled followed by walks of Schumm and Chandler to load the bases. Benoit then lifted a sacrifice fly to right field and made the score 9-4.

Cincinnati added two more runs in the fourth, but Dayton countered with two of their own in the top of the fifth inning. Massa ledoff the frame by beating out a groundball to short for an infield single. After one out, Schumm doubled to right field and UD had runners on second and third. Chandler then singled up the middle for two RBI and an 11-6 Dayton deficit.

The Flyers scored another run in the sixth after a one-out triple from Ramos. Burt followed with an RBI groundout to first and UD was within four runs at 11-7.

Dayton continued chipping away at the lead in the eighth inning with another run. Benoit hit a fly ball to left centerfield to begin the inning that was dropped by the UC fielder which allowed him to reach safely and head to second base. The Flyer designated hitter then moved up to third on a fly out to right field. Getty then came on a ripped a pinch-hit RBI single to left center and UD was within three at 11-8, but could not get any closer and lost by three runs.
