DAYTON, Ohio - Bobby Getty completed a Flyer comeback with a two-run blast to right centerfield in the seventh inning as Dayton blew past Indiana Southeast, 8-6 at a cold and blustery Time Warner Cable Stadium on Wednesday. UD (11-16) resumes its homestand with a three-game Atlantic 10 Conference series this weekend against Temple beginning on Friday at Noon ET.

Getty finished 2-for-4 with a double, home run, hit by pitch and three RBI to lead the Flyers who out hit the Grenadiers, 12-11.

Myles Swartzel finished 3-for-4 with a walk, run scored and a RBI while Scott Dunwoody was 2-for-5 with two runs scored to extend his team-leading season-best hitting streak to 11 games.

Shawn Gizynski and Joe McSoley each singled, walked, scored a run to aid the Flyer attack. Michael Massa and Michael DeLuca both finished 1-for-4 with a hit by pitch and a run scored while Massa added a stolen base.

Freshman Cole Tyrell was 0-for-1 with a walk, stolen base and a RBI. He was also hit by pitch twice on the afternoon to account for two of the six Flyers to be plunked in the game. The total was one shy of the school record, which has been reached once in each of the last three seasons. Overall this year, Dayton has been hit by pitch 57 times in 27 games played (2.11 HBP per game).

Lucas Farden earned the win for UD after hurling 4.0 innings of scoreless relief to close out the game. He struck out five batters while allowing just two hits and one walk.

Freshman Matt Speckman started on the mound for the Flyers and gave up three earned runs on eight hits in 3.0 innings pitched. He also tallied five strikeouts with one walk before being replaced by Ryan Hill. Hill had five strikeouts and one walk of his own to go along with one hit allowed in 2.0 scoreless innings pitched. Overall, the UD pitching staff had 15 strikeouts and just three walks on the day and has combined to punch out 27 batters over the last two days.

The Grenadiers started off with three unearned runs on two hits in the first inning, but Dayton responded with a run of its own in the second. Myles Swartzel hit a one-out single to right field and then Cole Tyrell was hit by a pitch to put runners on first and second for the Flyers. Quinn Haselhorst singled to right field to load the bases and Tyrell scored on a wild pitch to cut the deficit to 6-1.

Indiana Southeast added another three runs on five hits in the top of the third before Dayton came back with another run in the bottom of the frame. Scott Dunwoody ledoff the inning with a single to left centerfield. He moved to second on a wild pitch and advanced to third on a fly ball to left field. Shawn Gizynski followed with a RBI groundout to shortstop to make it a 6-2.

Dayton pulled closer in the fourth inning with three runs on two hits. Michael DeLuca singled up the middle to start the rally then Michael Massa was hit by pitch to put runners on first and second with no outs. After a pitching change, Scott Dunwoody moved DeLuca to third on a fielder's choice that retired Massa at second base. Bobby Getty followed with a RBI double to right centerfield to plate Dunwoody. Then after Shawn Gizysnki walked to load the bases, Joe McSoley earned a free pass on four straight pitches to send home another run. Then after another out, Cole Tyrell was hit by a pitch to collect another RBI and bring the Flyers within a run at 6-5.

UD evened the score in the sixth beginning when Joe McSoley was hit by a pitch to leadoff the innings. He moved to second on a wild pitch and scored on a RBI single from Myles Swartzel to make it a 6-6 game.

The Flyers finally took control in the seventh when Michael Massa reached on a single up the middle and Bobby Getty ripped a two-out two-run shot to right centerfield to beat Indiana Southeast, 8-6.
