DAYTON, Ohio - Chris Rubio went the distance as the Flyers shutout IPFW, 4-0, Tuesday at Time Warner Cable Stadium. Rubio struck out six and walked none while allowing just four hits on the day as the Flyers recorded their second shutout in the last three games while improving to 10-11 on the season.

Bobby Getty and Craig Rohren provided the offense for UD. Getty went 2-for-3 with two RBI and Rohren came off the bench to club his first home run of the season.

Galen Schumm also had a multi-hit game for the Flyers who out hit the Mastodons 6-4 on the day. Schumm was 2-for-4 with a run scored.

Dayton struck first in the second inning, plating three runs. Schumm singled to open the inning and was sacrificed to second. After an infield error and a walk, Joe McSoley drew a bases loaded walk for the first run. Bobby Getty promptly delivered a two-run single up the middle for a 3-0 lead.

In the top of the fifth, IPFW threatened as Brent Alwine singled with one out and after Rubio hit a batter, Caleb Smith reached on catcher's interference. But Rubio got Tyler Fowler to ground into a fielder's choice as McSoley threw out Alwine at the plate. Michael DeLuca made a diving shoe-string grab of Sean Kirk's line drive to first to end the inning.

Rohren, UD usual closer, pinch hit in the sixth inning and made it a non-save situation at 4-0 by hitting a solo shot over the left field wall for his first home run of the year. The following batter, Kevin Miller drew a walk to chase IPFW starter Jake Hollander after five plus innings. Hollander allowed four runs on six hits, walking five. Three of the four runs Hollander allowed were unearned.

The Flyers play host to St. Bonaventure in a three-game Atlantic 10 series this weekend, beginning Friday at 2:30 p.m. at Time Warner Cable Stadium. The series rounds out with Saturday and Sunday games scheduled for noon. All three games can be followed with live audio and Gametracker at www.DaytonFlyers.com.
