DAYTON, Ohio - The University of Dayton Flyers fell to the Miami RedHawks 16-5 in a non-conference midweek matchup at Time Warner Cable Stadium.

Right fielder Aaron Dunsmore was 2-of-4 with a pair of RBI. First baseman Jonathan Castine was 2-of-5 while covering first for ailing Marshall MacDonald who was out with a sore jaw. Castine also added a pair of RBI for UD.

Sean Finn picked up the loss for Dayton. Finn pitched 1.2 innings giving up four earned runs on the day. Chris Beesley, Quinn Haselhorst, Cameron Hobson, Tim Corbey and Mike Coughlin also saw at least one inning on the mound apiece for UD.

The Flyers trailed early off of a three run first inning by the RedHawks. However, Dayton bats came out firing back with a three run inning of their own.

Zach Jacob scored after Dunsmore's triple to right field brought him across the plate. Castine added a two-run homer to the scoreboard scoring himself and Dunsmore on the play.

Miami recoiled in the third inning with four runs that the Flyers were unable to answer.

Myles Swartzel added a homer in the bottom of the fourth inning to inch Dayton closer in their 7-4 deficit. However, eight runs over the last two innings by the RedHawks sealed the fate for UD.

Dayton hosts the Charlotte 49ers this weekend after sweeping St. Bonaventure at home in a three-game series at home last weekend. The games can be followed pitch-by-pitch on Gametracker and on 1660 Information Radio, the home of Flyer Baseball.
