March 24, 2006
DAYTON, Ohio - Senior Luke Trubee struck out 12 batters in a complete game effort, but its was not enough as Dayton lost to La Salle, 3-0, in the Atlantic 10 Conference baseball opener for both teams on Friday at Time Warner Cable Stadium. The Flyers (8-10, 0-1 A-10) and Explorers (6-13, 1-0 A-10) will resume their series on Saturday at 1 p.m. ET. The Preseason All-American was perfect through the first three innings and allowed just five hits overall in the 13th complete game performance of his career. The trio of Michael Massa, Bobby Getty and William Benoit provided the only offense for the Flyers who were held to five base runners. Explorer starter Kenny Elkind surrendered just two hits over six innings while striking out six for his first win of the season. Gerard Breslin pitched the final two innings of the game for La Salle to earn his first save of the year.
