2005...Drafted by the Washington Nationals in the 12th round of the MLB Draft. Assigned to begin his professional career with the Vermont Expos of the New York-Penn League. An A-10 Academic All-Conference pick as a Flyer. Appeared in 20 games, starting 15 and threw nine complete games. Had a 9-6 record with a 2.80 ERA with a career-high 77 strikeouts with just 27 in 106.0 innings pitched. He held opponents to a .252 batting average against him. Became the all-time strikeout leader in UD history with seven strikeouts in a complete game victory over Duquesne in the A-10 Tournament opener. He allowed two earned runs or less in 10 of his 15 starts while ranking second in the A-10 in innings pitched, fourth in wins, fifth in ERA and eighth in strikeouts. Fanned nine batters in a 3-1 win over Oakland on March 12 and collected eight strikeouts in a 6-2 victory over Duquesne on May 7. 2004...Pitched in 22 games, starting seven and finished with a 1-6 record and a team-best nine saves. Had a 4.26 ERA in 67.2 innings pitched and threw three complete games, including two combined shutouts. Fanned 61 batters while walking just 21. Allowed one earned run or less in 14 of his 22 appearances. Made his first two appearances of the season out of the bullpen earning saves against High Point and Bowling Green. He preserved a 3-2 win over the Panthers after allowing a hit and walk while striking out one while pitching the final inning. Against the Falcons, Stammen threw the final 2.2 innings and struck out four to save a 9-6 Flyer win. Earned a win in his final start of the season, a complete game, four-hit performance against A-10 foe Richmond. He struck out nine Spiders en route to a 10-3 victory. 2003... Made 18 appearances, including seven starts, owning a 6.52 ERA. Logged 58.0 innings with 47 strikeouts to just 25 walks. He recorded his first collegiate save on UD's spring trip after tossing one scoreless inning to seal a Dayton win over Tennessee-Martin. Prior to UD...Split time between football, basketball, and baseball, with his efforts on the diamond earning a spot on the All-Miami Valley team...Stammen also received Academic All-Ohio honors in 2002.
