Claimed the fifth place spot in the single season record book for Hit by Pitches with 12...Started in 50 of the 51 games played...Began the season going 3-for-4 with an RBI and two doubles against Wofford...Had a nine-game hitting streak that started with the game against New York Tech where we went 2-for-5 with two RBI and his first homerun of the season...Lead the Flyers in homeruns for the season with nine...Also led the Flyers with 40 RBI...Third on the team in Hits (64)...Ended the season with a hit against in the season-ending win over Saint Louis.

2006
Redshirted the 2006 season and did not attend classes during the Spring semester for family reasons.

2005
Played in 33 games, starting 16 at first base...After appearing in his first 16 games as a pinch hitter, Mercer started 16 of his last 17 games played at first base and the Flyers were 12-4 in those games...He had two pinch hit singles to help UD take two of three games from #19 Notre Dame including the GW RBI in the series finale...Also had a two-RBI double in Dayton's 13-9 win over Duquesne in the A-10 Tournament.

Led Franklin to a 19-5 record in his senior season and its second straight conference championship...He was a runner-up for Indiana's Mr. Baseball after winning All-State, All-Region and All-Area awards his senior year...Was also named to the All-County (three times), All-Conference (twice) and Indianapolis Star South Teams (twice) during his prep career.
