Kara Metzger helps bring victory against Cleveland State

Results

The UD women's tennis team banded together to beat the Cleveland State Vikings yesterday in a 5 to 2 victory.

The team dominated in both doubles and singles play. Number one singles player senior Erin Kirkland (Dayton, OH ) defeated Sarah Galon 6-0, 6-2. Freshman Allysa Detroy (Evansville, IN) brought victory to the Flyers against Jenn Myers 6-3, 7-6 (6). Sophomore Kara Metzger (Franksville, WI) won her match against Lindsay Sellers 6-3, 7-5. Freshman Megan Gray (Akron, OH) rounded out the team's singles victories with a 7-5, 6-3 win over Rebekah Bicksler.

In doubles, Kirkland and Detroy teamed up to defeat Galon and Morgan Ungerott 8-3. Sophomore Kate Mellion (Clinton, OH) and Metzger also brought a win for the Flyers against Myers and Christine Vogelgesang 8-3.

The overall match result was Dayton 5, Cleveland State 2.

The women's tennis team's next match is tomorrow, Saturday, January 29, where the team will face Ball State at 12:00 p.m.
