DAYTON, Ohio - The UD softball team fell 3-2 to Butler in non-conference action at UD Softball Stadium on Wednesday. Mollie Schrank went 3-for-4 with a run scored leading the Flyer offense in the opener.

Dayton out-hit Butler 8-7. Blair Crabtree went 2-for-4 as Lauren Schneider was 1-for-1 with an RBI.

Nikki Naffziger (3-3) earned the win for the Bulldogs striking out nine and walking two in six innings pitched.

The Bulldogs came out big in the top of the third as Bridget Paine blasted a homeurn with runners on first and second earning three RBI and taking the lead 3-0.

The Flyers got on board in the sixth as Schrank singled, Crabtree doubled and Sheena Rothwell was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Pinch-hitter Lauren Schneider stepped up to plate with a single of her own scoring Schrank to put one up for Dayton.

UD added one more run in the seventh behind Molly Meyer, but it wasn't enough as the Flyers fell in the first game 3-2 .

Game two is set to begin at 5:15 p.m. ET.
