FLYERS TRAVEL TO A-10 CHAMPIONSHIP
April 20, 2005 The Flyers travel to Pennsauken, New Jersey, this weekend for the 10th annual Atlantic 10 Conference Rowing Championship on Saturday, April 23. Races begin on the Cooper River with trials at 8:00 am and finals beginning at approximately 11:20 am. The University of Dayton will compete against eight other Atlantic 10 schools: Duquesne, Fordham, George Washington, LaSalle, Rhode Island, Saint Joseph's, Temple, and nine-time defending champion Massachusetts. The Flyers have never won the championship but have finished in the top five in the final point standings each of the last six years. In 2004, the Flyers earned 5th place overall, placing second in the Lightweight 8, Novice 8-B, and Novice 4 finals. UD placed 3rd in the Novice 8-A and 6th in the Varsity 4. UD enters the competition coming off strong showings at the SIRA Regatta, where the Lightweight 8 won first place, and matches against Duquesne and Bucknell. |
