May 28, 2009
The University of Dayton Women's Basketball Team has joined the latest Internet crazes and created its own Twitter and Facebook accounts. With the launch of UD Women's Basketball official Twitter account, Twitter.com/DaytonWBball, fans can receive instant updates, or "tweets," directly from the team via the Internet or on their mobile phones. The Flyers have also launched a Facebook page for fans to join. The fan page, "Dayton Women's Basketball," will provide fans with recent news, links and the chance to network with other Flyer fans and Facebook friends. The group will also feature a "wall" for fans to post comments on. All comments will be moderated and are subject to deletion. Users can join the Facebook page by clicking on the link above or by logging on to www.Facebook.com and typing in "Dayton Women's Basketball" into the search engine. Users must have a Facebook account to join. What Is Twitter? The service is free to use over the Internet and mobile phones. What is Facebook? To sign up for a free account, login to Facebook.com.
How to set up your Twitter account: 2. Enter your name and email address, and choose a username and password. 3. If you would like to send and receive Twitter updates from your cell phone, click "settings" in the top right of your browser window and then click on the "devices" tab. 4. Enter your phone number as instructed (for U.S. phones, you will need to enter "+1" before your area code) and click the box that reads "It's okay for Twitter to send messages to my phone." Twitter does not send third-party texts to your phone; you are ONLY accepting text message updates from people and groups you choose. Users must create an account to join Twitter. Once logged in, fans have the choice of following other users, and they can activate their mobile devices to receive tweets as other users, including the Flyer Women's Basketball account, post them.
