MEN'S TENNIS BLASTED BY ROCKETS 5-2
Jan. 27, 2007
Dayton, OH - The University of Dayton men's tennis team missed an opportunity to post their first victory of the season on Saturday afternoon against Toledo, dropping their third match of the spring season 5-2. Things were looking up for the Flyers, as they won two out of the first three singles points, but the team dropped three straight after that to come up just short against the Rockets. Senior Tom Murphy (3-0) and junior James O'Connell (2-1) were the lone winners for a team that has struggled to find production from anyone else in the line-up. Murphy and O'Connell now account for five of the Flyers seven total points through three matches. Murphy, playing first singles, took care of Toledo's Jared Miller (6-3, 6-2) to remain undefeated in singles play so far this spring. O'Connell won in the three spot for UD, beating UT's Travis Curran (7-5, 6-4). Dayton (0-3) will be back in action as they travel to the, "Show Me State," to take on Saint Louis University next Saturday, February 3 with a 4:00 PM start time. SLU has yet to play a match this spring, so both squads will be looking to post their first victory of the year. |
