At Dayton:
The coaches are excited about Welsh and have him penciled in the starting lineup after a good freshmen season in 2008 Welsh saw action in eight games for the Flyers. He returned 11 punts for 104 yards with a long of 27 yards. Defensively, Welsh tallied 14 tackles (one for a loss), and one interception. He was a member of the 2008 PFL Academic Honor Roll.
Personal
Born on June 12,1989 to Jeff and Teresa, Welsh is one of three children. He was team captain, team MVP and conference Player of the Year in both football and basketball as a senior at South Newton High School. He was also First Team All-Indiana and was chosen to play in the Indiana North-South All-Star football game. He was a member of National Honor Society, ranked fifth in his class. He is studying electrical engineering at UD.
