His six picks were the most for a Flyer since Mark Kasmer had 11 in 2002. He was fourth on the team in tackles with 54 (32 unassisted) and was All-Pioneer Football League First Team in 2005. He was also named First Team I-AA Mid-Major All-America by both the Sports Network and Football Gazette. In 2004, he was fourth in hits (46), second in solos (26), first in passes broken up (6) and tied for first in interceptions (2). Klaus was named the winner of the ROTC Cannonball Award in 2003, which goes to the team's top newcomer. As a freshman, he had 16 tackles (7 solo) in 11 games. He also had a nose for the ball. He had one interception (that he returned 51 yards for a TD to clinch the Drake win), five passes broken up, a fumble forced and a fumble recovered. He attended Toledo in 2002-03, but did not play football. The two-year starter at cornerback was also selected a pre-season All-American by the Sports Network. He was on the 2005 PFL Academic Honor Roll.
