DAYTON DROPPED BY RHODY 9-2, PLAY AGAIN TONIGHT AT 7 ET
May 22, 2009 DAYTON, Ohio - The No. 1 seeded University of Dayton Flyers fell to the No. 2 Rhode Island Rams 9-2 at Fifth Third Field on Friday. Zach Jacob was 3-for-4 on the day with one RBI. Jacob Spaeth and Scott Dunwoody notched UD's only runs in the contest. Quinn Haselhorst was dealt the loss on Friday. Haselhorst threw 5.1 innings allowing eight of URI's nine runs. Chris Beesley pitched 0.2 innings of relief also allowing an earned run. Conserving arms, the Flyers sent out a new pitcher each inning to close the game out. Mike Hauschild pitched one inning with one strikeout. Chuck Ghysels and Tim Corbey also pitched an inning with one strikeout. Dayton returns to action tonight at 7:00 p.m. and will face the winner of this afternoon's game between the Xavier Musketeers and UMass Minutemen. Admission to Fifth Third Field is $8 for adults and $4 for children and senior citizens. |
