Final Results
SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The University of Dayton track and field team finished up day two at the Meyo Invitational hosted by Notre Dame with a number of strong performances including multiple indoor season bests.
“I was really pleased with how things went this weekend,” University of Dayton Women’s Track and Field Coach Jason Francis said, “I was happy with how everyone competed and we seem to be peaking at the right time. We get a tune-up next at the Akron Invite next weekend. It was definitely a productive weekend for us.”
The team was led by senior Rachel Weber who set indoor season bests in the 400 and 200 meter dashes. In the 400 meters Weber finished with a time of 57 seconds, moving her up in the all-time performance list to third overall. This was a full second better than her previous top mark this season. In the 200 she came across the line with a time of 25.61, improving to fifth all-time in the 200 meters at UD.
Sophomore Nicole Cargill continued her impressive weekend setting a new season-best in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:17.33. This comes one day after she set the school record in the 1,000 meter run with a time of 2:57.43.
Sophomore Sarah Reynolds also set a new indoor best in the 3,000 meter run with a time of 10:29.25. Junior Christine Borchers continued her impressive indoor season with a new 2012 indoor best in the shot put with a toss of 13.17m (43-02.50). Miranda Nelson also bettered her season-best mark with a throw of 12.95m (42-06.00).
Sophomore Katrina Steinhauser recorded a new personal record with a jump of 3.71m (12-02.00) in the pole vault.
On Friday at the Meyo invitational, senior Kelly Johnston moved into second all-time with, finishing in 2:58.36 in the 1,000 meters.
Senior Elissa Mason set a new personal record in the 5k run. Mason had a time of 17:08.56, which is third all-time on Dayton’s indoor performance list. Senior Lindsey Cummings had a time of 17:45.59, which ranks fifth all-time at UD. Marisa Slomski had a time of 18:09.92, which was a new personal record.
Sophomore Hilary Lang improved on her personal record pentathlon score after totaling 3,242 points on Friday at the Akron Invitational in Akron, Ohio. Each of UD’s pentathlon student-athletes scored personal records. Sophomore Maddi Schmidt had 3,211, senior Erin Baldinger had 3,122 and freshman Katy Garcia had 2,967 points in her first pentathlon of the year.
Dayton returns to action next weekend at the Akron Invitational in its final tune-up before the Atlantic 10 Championships in Kingston, R.I. on Feb. 17 and 18.
3000 Meters
Sarah Reynolds and Katie Ollier were the only competitors for the Flyers in this event. Reynolds finished with a time of 10:29.25 and Ollier in 10:35.08. It was Reynolds’s best indoor time.
1 Mile
Lizzie Gleason and Katie Johnston were the top Flyers coming across with times of 5:09.86 and 5:10.38 respectively.
400 Meter
Rachel Weber placed 25th with a time of 57 seconds. Kassy Thomas also participated in the 400 meter dash finishing in a time of 59.47 seconds.
800 Meter
Nicole Cargill came through with a time of 2:17.33. Lauren Clark finished with a time of 2:22.47.
200 Meter
Rachel Weber ran a time of 25.61 while Noelle Tazioli recorded a time of 25.94.
Pole Vault
Katrina Steinhauser recorded a new personal record with a jump of 3.71m (12-02.00). Hanna Krizmanic recorded a jump of 3.51m (11-06.25).
Shot Put
Christine Borchers had the top Flyer toss with a throw of 13.17m (43-02.25). Miranda Nelson recorded a length of 12.95m (42-06.00).
500 Meter Dash
Kassy Thomas led UD with a time of 1:17.46. That time ranks her fourth all-time on UD’s performance list for the 500. Kelsey McDonald checked in with a time of 1:18.10 for fifth all-time on the performance list. Mariah Curtis rounded out the group with a time of 1:20.48.
1,000 Meter Run
Nicole Cargill snapped Dayton’s 1,000 meter record with a time of 2:57.43. Senior Kelly Johnston moved into second all-time with, finishing in 2:58.36. Chelsey VanHook tied her top mark of the year with a time of 3:14.25.
5,000 Meter Run
Elissa Mason set a new personal record in the 5k run. Mason had a time of 17:08.56, which is third all-time on Dayton’s indoor performance list. Senior Lindsey Cummings had a time of 17:45.59, which ranks fifth all-time at UD. Marisa Slomski had a time of 18:09.92, which was a new personal record.
High Jump
Ellie Grandi reached 1.65m (5-05.00).
Weight Throw
