Dayton Flyers

DAYTON, Ohio – The University of Dayton softball team hosts the Butler Bulldogs on Wednesday in a twinbill starting at 3 p.m. at UD Softball Stadium. Both games will be streamed live on DaytonFlyers.com.

The Flyers split their last series with St. Bonaventure. UD (12-16, 4-4 A-10) lost the first game 11-8 and won the second 11-5.

Junior Lauren Nacke pounded the ball for Dayton, putting up five RBI off of two home runs and five total hits in the doubleheader. Nacke helps inch UD closer to the school’s single-season home run mark of 30 after hitting her eighth and ninth homers of the season.

Freshman Alysha Isaacson was strong at the plate and in the circle for the Red and Blue. Isaacson had two RBI and one home run. She also earned her seventh (7-5) win of the year, pitching a complete game against the Bonnies with three strikeouts.

Nacke leads the team with a .375 average at the plate. Her nine home runs are one away from tying her career-best for a single season. She is three away from tying the single-season record set by Missy Mellott in 2000.

Junior Sarah Wedel has a 4.01 ERA in 64.2 innings pitched. Wedel has 28 strikeouts on the year. Isaacson has 30 punchouts in 75.1 innings pitched. She has also thrown five complete games in 2011, which leads Dayton.

Jessica Huey leads Butler, who is 15-11-1 on the year. Huey is hitting .347 with five home runs and 17 RBI. Erin Falkenberry leads the team with 30 RBI she also has 11 homers.

Jennifer Chasteen is 8-3 on the year and has thrown five complete games. Chasteen owns a 0.66 ERA and has three shutouts and one save. Jenny Esparza has four complete games and 74 strikeouts this year.
