OXFORD, Ohio – Dayton women’s cross country dominated the field of four teams at the Miami Invitational on Saturday morning with a perfect score as 10 of the first runners to cross the finish line were Flyers.
“It was a good meet, kind of more of a work out day for our runners,” Head Coach Sarah Hinkley said. “Great weather – the course wasn’t anything that will leave them beat up for next weekend. Our runners are definitely running on tired legs right now but they are fine with that because that is what the season is all about – working through adversity.”
Coming off an Atlantic 10 Runner of the Week award after setting a personal record in the Flyer 5K Challenge, senior Maureen Bulgrin took home the individual title with a time of 18:26. The next nine runners to cross the finish line were also Flyers as Elizabeth Coorey, Lizzie Gleason, Lindsey Cummings, Nicole Cargill, Elissa Mason, and Taylor Beyerle each contributed to the Flyers' perfect score of 15 points.
Miami, running with a partial squad on Saturday, placed second with 60 points after taking the Flyer 5K Challenge title last week. Evansville and Urbana rounded out the four-team invitational field with 68 and 120 points, respectively.
The Flyers return to action at the National Catholic Invitational in South Bend, Ind., next Friday. It will be the latest start time for Dayton this season with a 5 p.m. ET start.
