DAYTON RECRUITING CLASS RANKED 20TH NATIONALLY

DAYTON, Ohio – The 2010 University of Dayton men’s soccer freshman class has been ranked 20th by College Soccer News, the highest ranking of any Atlantic 10 institution.

"The success of last year’s senior class and our tremendous growth over the past two seasons, allowed us to attract some excellent talent this past recruiting season,” Dayton head coach Dennis Currier said.

The Flyers brought in 15 recruits this season, after graduating a senior class of 12 from their 2009 A-10 regular season championship team. Marlon Duran, a former member of the U-17/U-20 National Team, was selected as a preseason All-Rookie by the Atlantic 10 alongside Victor Duru and Badir Sherman. UD was the only team with three players honored on the preseason all-rookie team.

“Our staff has worked extremely hard and it feels great to be recognized as one of the best classes in the country.  However, we also know the expectations of the program have dramatically increased and a lot of hard work is ahead of us," Currier said.

Following Monday night’s exhibition game against Kentucky, the Flyers travel to Cincinnati for their season opener against the Bearcats on Sept. 1 at 7:00 p.m. Dayton will hold its home opener on Sept. 3 against the IPFW Mastodons at 8:00 p.m. at Baujan Field.

From College Soccer News:
20.  Dayton - Dennis Currier added 15 newcomers to help plug the gap that exists due to the loss of a talented senior class.  The most interesting signee is NSCAA Youth All-American midfielder Marlon Duran who has been a member of the U.S. U-17 and U-20 National Teams.  NSCAA High School All-American defender Jon Buschur, midfielders Victor Duru and Badir Sherman and forward Andres Acevedo have impressive resumes.
