Facebook is a free-access social networking website, where users can join networks organized by city, workplace, school, and region to connect and interact with other people. People can also add friends and send them messages, and update their personal profiles to notify friends about themselves.

The official Flyer Athletics Twitter page will be updated throughout the year with breaking news, scores, in-game updates, time changes, announcements and the up-to-the-minute coverage of UD athletics.

You can start following Flyer Athletics on Twitter by visiting to Twitter.com/UDAthletics

Fans can also follow coach Brian Gregory, UD Women’s Basketball and Dayton Volleyball on Twitter. Each of those official Twitter accounts gives fans instant updates, or "tweets," directly from each sport via the Internet or on their mobile phones.
Twitter is a mini-blogging site that allows members to share information about what they are doing, or thinking, at any specific time with anyone who is interested. Twitter entries, or "tweets," are required to be 140 letters or less, allowing for concise communication between members. Twitter accounts are free of charge.

How do I sign up for Facebook?
From the Sign Up page, just provide Facebook with your full name, email address, birthday, and desired password. If you are part of one of Facebook's supported high school, college, or work networks, you will be given instructions on how to affiliate yourself. If you are not a member of one of these networks, you can join one of our regional networks after registration. After you complete the sign up form, Facebook will send an email to the address you provided. Clicking on the confirmation link will complete the sign up process.

How do I join a group on Facebook?
You can join any open group on your networks. Also, you can join any "global" group that is open. These groups can be found using the Facebook Search page. Just type in a keyword for the group you want to find and specify that you are looking for "Groups." Alternatively, you can browse by category from the Groups page. When you find the group you are looking for, click on the "join group" link on the right side of the screen.

Some groups require administrative approval for you to join. If you try to join these groups, you will have to wait for an admin to let you in. Finally, there are some groups on Facebook that are invitation only. You cannot request to join these. Only an invitation from a group admin will give you access.

What Is Twitter?

Twitter is a free social networking and micro-blogging service that enables its users to send and read other users' updates known as tweets. Tweets are text-based posts of up to 140 characters in length which are displayed on the user's profile page and delivered to other users who have subscribed to them (known as followers).

The service is free to use over the Internet and mobile phones.

How to set up your Twitter account:
1. Visit Twitter.com and click "Get Started."
2. Enter your name and email address, and choose a username and password.
3. If you would like to send and receive Twitter updates from your cell phone, click "settings" in the top right of your browser window and then click on the "devices" tab.
4. Enter your phone number as instructed (for U.S. phones, you will need to enter "+1" before your area code) and click the box that reads "It's okay for Twitter to send messages to my phone."

Twitter does not send third-party texts to your phone; you are ONLY accepting text message updates from people and groups you choose. Users must create an account to join Twitter. Once logged in, fans have the choice of following other users, and they can activate their mobile devices to receive tweets as other users post them.
