FLETEMIER SHARES GOLD MEDAL EXPERIENCE WITH A2 TEAM

PHOENIX – University of Dayton All-American middle blocker Lindsay Fletemier helped the USA A2 Blue Team capture the gold medal at the USA Volleyball Open National Championships earlier this week.

USA A2 Blue went 6-1 at the tournament, and swept their way through the elimination round, dispatching the Exterminators twice in a row to win gold.

The A2 Blue team is regarded as the best of USA Volleyball’s two A2 teams. Four members of the Blue squad played in last year’s national championship game between Texas and Penn State. In addition, eight of the 12 on the team are members of Top 25 teams.

Fletemier submitted her final journal of her A2 experience, and it can be read in its entirety below:

Through the last 10 days I've spent in Arizona I've learned so much. The coaching staff was great and all the girls were amazing. By watching the other players I saw different things that I can do to help my game.

It was such a great experience for me. I love being in such a competitive gym. It doesn't get much better than that. Even though I just left Arizona, I can't wait to get back in the gym with my Dayton girls and show them what I've learned.

This is a big summer for us and I'm very excited about where we are headed. We have a couple new players coming in that came from great programs and were eager to all get in the gym together.

We have some big-time goals for this upcoming season and it all starts with this summer. Summer is the time where we can really put everything we have into workouts and training. Our team knows that to do big things in the fall you've got to start working for it in the summer.

The dedication that our team has to each other and our beloved sport is unlike many schools around the country. Dayton volleyball is headed to the next level.
