OAK RIDGE, Tenn. – In their first trip to the NCAA South/Central Regional, the University of Dayton Flyers put forth a solid effort against some of the top tier squads in the nation.

In the preliminary round of the Open 4’s, the Flyers advanced to the next stage after coming in third with a time of 7:59.50. UD placed just ahead of Iowa and Tulsa’s A boat.

Meanwhile in the preliminary round for the Varsity 8, Dayton ended up with a time of 7:27.09. While it was good for sixth in the heat, the time was good enough for UD to advance to the semifinals.

In the semifinals, Dayton’s Varsity 8 competed against Alabama, Indiana, Texas, SMU and Kansas State. UD finished in sixth clocking in with a time of 7:17.23.

UD’s Open 4 competed in the semifinals against Notre Dame, Wisconsin, Texas and Virginia A & B squads. The Flyers placed in sixth with a time of 8:14.06.

Dayton’s Varsity 8 will compete in the D Final, while the Open 4 will go in the B Final on Sunday, May 16.
