BURY’S COMPLETE-GAME SHUTOUT GARNERS A-10 WEEKLY AWARD

Senior Tim Bury is 4-0 in his last four starts with a 1.54 earned run average.
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Senior Tim Bury was named the Atlantic 10 Pitcher of the Week after throwing a complete-game shutout at Richmond last Saturday during a 1-0 Flyer victory, the league office announced on Monday.

During his four-hit, complete-game shutout on April 28, Overland Park, Kan., native faced the minimum through 5 2/3 innings and faced a total of just 30 batters. Bury (5-2) finished his second complete-game of the season with six strikeouts and closed out his 124-pitch outing by retiring the last nine batters he faced in order.

The senior right-hander is 4-0 in his last four starts with a 1.54 earned run average – just six earned runs through 35 innings pitched. He has a 4-1 record and 1.90 ERA during conference play, leading the A-10 in conference wins.

Joining Bury on the weekly A-10 honor roll is Shane Basen as Player of the Week and Brad Elwood as Rookie of the Week – both play for Charlotte.

It is the first A-10 Pitcher of the Week award for Bury and for the Flyers this season. Burny Mitchem (5/9/11), Cameron Hobson (3/21/11) and Mike Hauschild (2/21/11) all earned Pitcher of the Week recognition last season.

The Flyers are taking final exams this week and will return to action with another road conference series at Temple this weekend (May 4-6). Dayton is 5-1 in A-10 road contests this season.
