College Station First and Second Round Event Information The University of Dayton women’s basketball team earned its third consecutive and first automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament. UD is the No. 11 seed in the Raleigh region for the 2012 NCAA Women’s Basketball Championship. The Flyers will play No. 6 seed Arkansas this Saturday, March 17 at 4:05 p.m. ET in College Station, Texas at Reed Arena. The game will be broadcast on ESPN2.
HOW THEY GOT HERE The Flyers won three games in three days to claim the 2012 Atlantic 10 Women’s Basketball Championship, earning the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. After opening the tournament with a 69-51 win over Saint Louis, Dayton avenged both its regular season A-10 losses on the road to the title. For the second consecutive season, the Flyers defeated Temple in the semifinals, this time by a score of 66-63. Dayton claimed its first-ever A-10 women’s basketball title with a 56-53 win over No. 16 and top-seeded St. Bonaventure.
SERIES INFO The Flyers are 0-4 all-time against Arkansas, but have not faced the Razorbacks since 2001. UD is 1-2 in NCAA Championship games.

This season marks Jim Jabir’s highest winning percentage as a head coach (.793). His previous best was (.758) in 2009-10.
DAYTON IN THE NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP
Dayton is 1-2 all-time in NCAA Tournament games.
This marks the Flyers’ third consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament, including back-to-back seasons in which they earned at-large berths (2009-10 and 2010-11).
Last season (2010-11) Dayton earned the No. 11 seed and lost to host and No. 6 seed Penn State, 75-66, at the Bryce Jordan Center in University Park, Pa. Senior Justine Raterman was playing on a torn ACL. She played just four minutes of the second half and finished with three points and six rebounds. Patrice Lalor produced her lone career double-double with 18 points and 11 assists.
The Flyers earned their first-ever NCAA Tournament berth and win in 2009-10. Dayton earned the No. 8 seed and erased an 18-point deficit to defeat No.9 seed TCU 67-66. Kayla Moses had eight points in the win for the Flyers.
Dayton lost to No. 1 seed Tennessee 92-64 in the second round in Knoxville, Tenn. in the 2010 NCAA tourney.
