The University of Dayton women’s basketball team hosts the Richmond Spiders Wednesday, Jan. 25 at 7 p.m. at UD Arena. The game features two of the highest scoring teams in the A-10; with Dayton second in the conference in points per game (70.4) and Richmond is fourth (69.1). The Flyers are coming off back-to-back road wins over Massachusetts (80-55) and Fordham (62-37). UD is 1-1 in home Atlantic 10 games, while Richmond is also 1-1 in A-10 road games this season. Senior Justine Raterman leads Dayton in scoring (13.2 ppg – 7th in A-10) and rebounding (5.7 rpg). Senior Patrice Lalor leads UD in assists with 72 (3rd in A-10), senior Elle Queen leads in steals with 32 (4th in A-10) and senior Casey Nance leads in blocks with 24 (7th in A-10). The Flyers are outscoring opponents by an average of +10.7 points per game. They also have a +3.8 rebounding margin over opponents.
SCOUTING THE SPIDERS
Richmond is 15-4 overall and 3-2 in A-10 action. The Spiders have conference wins over George Washington (74-57), UMass (73-54) and La Salle (74-70). Their two losses came against Temple (56-55) and league-leader St. Bonaventure (75-59). Senior Abby Oliver paces Richmond with a league-high 16.3 ppg and also leads the Spiders with 32 steals. Sophomore Genevieve Okoro adds 12.7 ppg and a team-high 7.8 rpg. Richmond is +9.1 in scoring margin this season. The Spiders lead the A-10 in field goal percentage (.432) and free throw percentage (.824).
SERIES STUFF
Richmond leads the all-time series 10-5 over Dayton, although the Flyers have won the last two meetings. Dayton is 3-4 against the Spiders when playing at UD Arena. The Flyers won the last meeting, 66-55 in Richmond, Va. on Jan. 22, 2011. Kristin Daugherty led the way for the Flyers with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Patrice Lalor had 13 points for Dayton. The last meeting at UD Arena was an 83-31 win for the Flyers over Richmond on Jan. 23, 2010. The margin of victory, (52) is the second largest for the Flyers since they began Division I basketball in 1986. The largest was a 55-point win over Wright State on Dec. 18, 2001. The 31 points allowed was a season-best for the Flyers.

The Flyers play at George Washington this Saturday, Jan. 28 at 2 p.m. They play at Xavier on Sunday, Feb. 5 in a nationally-televised ESPNU game. Dayton has elected to open a third and FINAL bus for the trip to the Xavier game. This is available for season ticket holders only and there are a limited number of spaces available.
LAST TIME OUT
Dayton used balanced, efficient scoring in a 62-37 win over Fordham on Jan. 21. The 37 points scored by the Rams is the lowest total the Flyers have held an opponent this season. Patrice Lalor paced all scorers with 13 points to lead the Flyers, who shot a season-high 48.9 percent from the field (22-of-45). Senior Justine Raterman added 11 points and freshman Andrea Hoover had 10 points and a career-high eight rebounds.
SANT STEPS UP AT UMASS
Dayton built a big lead and came away with an 80-55 Atlantic 10 win over Massachusetts Jan. 18. Cassie Sant put up a career-high 17 points.
