After a two week break from game action the University of Dayton (5-3) will play the University of Illinois (4-6) Tuesday, Dec. 20 in a non-conference game as part of the Las Vegas South Point Holiday Hoops Classic. Tip-off is scheduled for 4 p.m. ET at the South Point Casino. Illinois will face Montana State in the Vegas Holiday Hoops Classic the day before facing UD. The Flyers take on Gonzaga following their game against the Illini. Tip is Wednesday, Dec. 21, also at 4 p.m. ET.

Dayton is coming off a 77-69 win over Wright State Tuesday , Dec. 6. Senior Justine Raterman scored 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Freshman Andrea Hoover improved her career high with 16 points against the Raiders.
Illinios is 4-6 so far this season with wins over Illinois St.(66-56), Clemson (61-50), Memphis (62-54) and Cleveland St. (72-42). The Fighting Illini most recently suffered a 70-64 loss to No. 15 Texas Tech on Dec. 17. Illiois is averaging 61.7 ppg as a team. Junior Karisma Penn leads the Illini and is tenth in the Big Ten in scoring with 14.5 ppg. Penn also leads Illinois on the boards with 7.5 rebounds per game, fourth in the Big Ten. Sophmore Kersten Magnum adds 11.0 ppg and 6.6 rpg.
Gonzaga is 8-2 with its only losses to No. 4 Stanford (76-61) and USC (58-51), which is receiving votes in both national polls. Gonzaga is No. 25 in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches Poll and receiving votes in the AP Top 25 poll. The Bulldogs are outscoring opponents by an average of +13.4 ppg. They have four players averaging double figure scoring: Kayla Standish (16.8), Haiden Palmer (12.5), Katelan Redmon (11.9) and Kelly Bowen (10.2). Standish also leads the Zags in blocks (16) and rebounds per game (7.4). Gonzaga plays Georgia in the Las Vegas Holiday Hoops Classic a day prior to facing UD.
This will be the third meeting between the Flyers and Fighting Illini. Dayton leads the all-time series 2-0 and has won the last two games, including a 98-64 victory at UD Arena on Dec. 29, 1979. The latest win over Illinois, however, came nearly 30 years ago on Jan. 17, 1981 as the Flyers defeated the Fightin Illini 81-74 in Champaign, Ill. This is the first meeting between Dayton and Gonzaga women’s basketball.
The Flyers take part in the Saint Peter’s College Holiday Classic in Jersey City, N.J. Dec. 29-30. They play South Florida in the first game and then will play either host Saint Peter’s or Binghamton. The Flyers return home for their Atlantic 10 opener vs. Rhode Island on Jan. 7 at 2 p.m. ET.
