5 FLYER WOMEN'S GOLFERS NAMED TO NGCA ALL-AMERICAN SCHOLAR TEAMS

Golfers must maintain a minimum 3.50 grade point average to be considered for the honor.
CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – Five University of Dayton women's golfers have been named to the National Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar Team.

Flyers Cheryl Ang, Clara Ang, Kelly Coakley, Heather Jorgensen and Julie Pouliquen are five of 566 women's collegiate golfers who were honored from among the Division I, II and III ranks.

With some of the most stringent selection criteria in college athletics, golfers must maintain a minimum 3.50 grade point average to be considered for the honor.

Clara Ang for the second consecutive year earned an Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar Award. Ang led the Flyers in stroke average with a 79.5 and had 11 rounds played in which she shot below an 80. Ang has a 3.90 cumulative grade point average and majors in mechanical engineering.

Pouliquen was one of Dayton's most consistent players during her four-year career. She won two tournaments, had a career stroke average of 82.0 and played in 80 total rounds. She graduated in May 2011 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Cheryl Ang played in 18 rounds last season, the fourth-most on the team, and ranked seventh on the Flyers in stroke average at 85.7. She has a 3.87 GPA and is currently majoring in Business Administration.

Last season, Coakley tied for the team lead in rounds played with 19 and finished sixth on the squad in stroke average at 85.2. Coakley majors in finance and has a 3.69 grade point average.

Jorgensen played in 13 rounds last season and finished fifth on the team in stroke average at 84.7. She is majoring in Business Administration and showcases a 3.66 grade point average.

Dayton women's golf has had great success in the classroom. The Flyers showcase a cumulative GPA of 3.42 with four members on the Dean's List.
