Dayton, OH –
On Friday, the University of Dayton women’s tennis team recorded wins over Lipscomb and Robert Morris to improve 4-2 on the season.

UD opened play against the Lipscomb Lady Bisons, tallying a 4-3 victory with wins at No. 2, No. 5, and No. 6 singles. A consistent attack on the doubles court earned Dayton their first point, as Loni Dickerhoof and Julie Kirkland picked up their fifth win as a pair in the number one spot, 8-6. Sarah van Wallegham and Chelsea Glankler joined forces for the first time this season, recording a convincing 8-1 win at the No. 3 doubles position.

Later that afternoon, UD squared-off against Robert Morris for the second time this year. Again, Dayton dominated play en route to a 6-1 decision.

Chelsea Gray made her first appearance of the spring season, dominating the No. 6 singles spot with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Robert Morris’ Emily Himmel. She and senior teammate Molly Mathews took care of business on the doubles court as well, handing Robert Morris’ Rudneva/Meir duo an 8-0 loss.

Mathews also represented the Flyers at No. 5 singles, contributing a 6-2, 6-1 success to the team’s overall effort.
For the seventh time this season, Julie Kirkland appeared at the No. 1 singles and doubles positions, with a 6-0, 6-0 singles win and an 8-1 doubles victory. She now holds an impressive 6-1 doubles record as a freshman.

Dickerhoof and Glankler both went undefeated on the day.

The Flyers will conclude the Dayton Invitational on Saturday against New Jersey IT at 11 a.m. ET.
