NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - University of Dayton volleyball sophomore
Mackenzie Weaver was named the Atlantic 10 Player of the Week as announced by the conference office Monday, Oct. 23. This is the first weekly honor for the Manesville, Ohio, native.
VCU's Rebeka Strange was named the Defensive Player of the Week while Fordham's McKenna Lahr and Saint Louis' Maya Taylor shared Rookie of the Week honors. All awards were for matches played Oct. 16-22.
Weaver averaged 3.29 kills/set to lead Dayton to two wins over the weekend in Atlantic 10 Conference play. She recorded a career-high 13 kills to go with four digs, two blocks and one assist in a 3-0 win over George Mason on Friday. In Sunday's win over George Washington, Weaver tallied 10 kills and was working on a double-double with eight digs to go with four blocks and one assist. For the weekend, she hit at .327, scored 4.00 points/set and tallied 0.86 blocks/set.
Dayton returns to action on Friday, Oct. 27 with a 7 p.m. match-up at Davidson.
