ST. LOUIS - The University of Dayton football team was picked to finish second in the Pioneer Football League for the 2015 season in a preseason vote of the league's coaches. It was the second straight season the Flyers were predicted to come in second.
San Diego was picked as the favorite to win the 2015 PFL crown with 89 out of a possible 100 voting points. UD was right behind with 87 points, one point ahead of Drake. This is the third consecutive year that San Diego has been picked to win the league.
Dayton finished with three out of a possible 11 first place votes. San Diego received seven first place votes, with Drake receiving one vote.
The Flyers finished 8-3 last season and tied for second place in the PFL with a 6-2 record. Dayton returns 14 starters (six defense, seven offense, one specialist) and 43 letterwinners in 2015. Captains Chris Beaschler,
