DAYTON, Ohio - University of Dayton volleyball head coach Tim Horsmon has announced the hiring of former University of Maryland assistant Audrey Ludwig. Assistant coach Ludwig is the first staff member Horsmon has announced since his return to the helm of the Flyer program in December. Ludwig will be the program's recruiting coordinator and will likely work with setters as well as the team's defensive systems.

"I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to coach at the University of Dayton," commented Ludwig. "Dayton volleyball has had a long tradition of excellence and an expectation level to win championships. It's a place where student-athletes are going to thrive and that excites me."

Prior to coming to Dayton, she spent one season with current UD head coach Tim Horsmon at the University of Maryland. The Terps went 13-19 during the 2013 season and had two players named to the ACC All-Conference teams.

Ludwig arrived at Maryland after three seasons as head coach at Division III Hamline University in St. Paul, Minn., where she led the Pipers to an 18-12 finish in the 2012, the second-most wins in program history. She led the program in all aspects including its recruiting efforts.

Prior to her three-year stint at Hamline, Ludwig returned to her alma mater, St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn., in 2008. There, she served as assistant women's basketball coach for two seasons and assistant volleyball coach for one season. In 2009 with the volleyball team, Ludwig and the Oles went 27-5 and finished third in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC). While working with the St. Olaf volleyball program, Ludwig served as the primary offensive coach and headed up recruiting efforts.

Ludwig has extensive coaching experience at the club level. From 2004-07, she was the head coach for the Northfield Junior Olympic Volleyball Club working directly with the 16- and 17-year old teams. In November of 2007, she became the head coach for the Minnesota Select Volleyball club and helped the 18-2s earn a bid to nationals.

Ludwig began her collegiate coaching career at Augsburg College in Minneapolis, Minn., in 2007 as an assistant and spent two seasons with the program.

A four-year starter at St. Olaf, Ludwig was a three-time All-MIAC selection and finished her career with 4,221 assists, which ranks fourth all-time in school history and 10th in MIAC history.

Ludwig earned a bachelor's degree in exercise science from St. Olaf in 2007 and a master's degree in kinesiology from the University of Minnesota in 2008.
