DAYTON, Ohio -
The University of Dayton Flyers (7-2, 1-0 A-10) defended their home turf through the rain and extended their home winning streak with a 3-1 victory over the Butler Bulldogs (2-3-4, 0-1 A-10). It was the Atlantic 10 Conference opener for both teams.

Butler struck first in the 20th minute with a goal off a corner kick by Adam Glanzer. Glanzer headed the ball in off of Jeff Adkins' corner. The Flyers trailed 1-0 at the half, despite holding a 8-6 advantage in shots.

In the 52nd minute, Dayton capitalized on a penalty kick situation as Abe Keller converted for his fourth goal of the season. Keller was pulled down in the box moments before, leading to the penalty.

Maik Schoonderwoerd scored the game-winning goal in the 58th minute on an assist from John Howe. Howe headed a ball through to Schoonderwoerd that was finished near post for the lead.

Dayton added an insurance goal in the 84th minute as Andres Acevedo took a beautiful pass from Daniel Berko for his fourth goal of the season.

Dayton improves to 7-2 on the season, 1-0 in the A-10.  Butler falls to 2-3-4 and 0-1 in the conference. The Flyers return to action at Baujan Field on Sunday afternoon, when they will face the Saint Louis Billikens. Kick off is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET.
