SOLID FINISH HELPS FLYERS TIE FOR SECOND AT NORM BULLOCK CLASSIC

FAIRBORN, Ohio - Behind second and third round scores of 69 and 74 from junior Rob Chappell, the Dayton Flyers finished tied for second at the Norm Bullock Collegiate Classic.

Dayton shot a team score of 287 in round two and a 299 in the third round to earn it's best tournament finish in head coach Drew Tyrer's tenure. Overall the Flyers shot an 882.

Chappell finished tied for fourth overall with a 217 total. Also tying for fourth with a 217 was freshman Ian Gilley. Gilley added back-to-back rounds of 71 to finish strong.

Freshman Chris Woeste played consistently through out following up a round one 74 with rounds of 73 and 74. Woeste completed the tournament in a tie for 11th overall with a 222 total.

Junior Mark Juve enjoyed a solid first two rounds at 73 and 74 respectively before tallying an 80 in the final round. Juve finshied with a 227, good for a tie in 23rd.

Junior Mitch Custenborder also shot an 80 in round three, but had a 77 and a 76 in the first two rounds to round out the team scoring.

Among the individuals, freshman Jeff Hodapp caught fire toward the end. He shot a 75 on Sunday and countered with a 74 in round two and a 71 in the third and final round to finish tied for seventh.

Freshman Zach Glassman ended up tied for eighth with rounds of 71, 75 and 74. Junior Matthew Friend posted back-to-back scores of 78 in day two after shooting a 71 in the opening round.

Junior Nick Trubee added a 77, 78 and 76 finishing in a tie for 34th.

UD continues the spring season on April 13-14 at the 2008 University of Kentucky Bluegrass Invitational. The event will be held at the Big Blue Course from the University Club of Kentucky.
