2012
Mackell ran 16:11 to start the season at the Flyer 5k. At the National Catholic he ran 26:25 in the JV race. At the All-Ohio Championships he ran 26:45. He had his best race of the season at the NCAA Pre-Nationals running 25:39 and was the fourth Flyer. At the Atlantic 10 Championships he ran 27:26 and was the sixth UD finisher. He closed the year out as the fourth fastest Flyer at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional running 33:15.

2011
Mackell was awarded the High Flyer award for this season and received high praises from Coach Rich Davis. Davis stated that Mackell “met all the expectation of being the team’s ‘High Flyer’; academic achievement, qualities of team leadership, and service to the University and the Dayton community. He was a significant influence in 2011 by creating a team environment which showed everyone what can be accomplished through hard work.” Mackell was consistently the Flyers fourth man and recorded a mile pace time of 5:13.6. He was the second man at the Flyer 5K with a time of 15:48, third at the NCAA Pre-Nationals with a 26:10 time, and fourth on the team in the remaining four varsity events. Mackell also holds one of the Top 25 All-Time 10K times as well as owning the 10th best time overall in the group of “Harrier Heroes”. He finished in second place on the squad at the Flyer 5K with a time of 15:48, third at the NCAA Pre-Nationals in 26:10, and fourth on the team at the National Catholic Championships, the All-Ohio Championships, and the NCAA Great Lakes Regional 10K.  Mackell also holds one of the Top 25 All-Time 10K times as well as owning the 10th best Personal Best 8K time among the group of “Harrier Heroes”.

2010
In Mackell's first race of the 2010 season, he finished the Flyer 5K in 15:59, helping his team to a second place finish.  The next race was the Mel Brodt Invitational, where he guided the Flyers to a first place overall finish with a time of 26:20.

2009
As a freshman, Mackell competed in three varsity cross country races...he started the season by finishing 44th overall at the Flyer 5K with a time of 16:23...he also competed in the Mel Brodt Invitational and posted a personal best of 26:01 and was the ninth Flyer to cross the finish line...closed out his rookie campaign competing in the A-10 Championships in St. Louis and posted a time of 29:00.

High School
Three-time member of the All-Greater Buckeye Conference First Team (2007-09)...Named the Greater Buckeye Conference Runner of the Year his senior season...Placed 15th at the All-Ohio Cross Country DI Championships in 2008...An honor roll student all four years at Findlay High School...Also a member of the All-Ohio Academic Team ('08), National Honor Society, and Spanish Honor Society.
