FLYER MEN WIN TWO OF THREE EVENTS ENTERED AT CINCINNATI EARLY BIRD RELAYS

Early Bird Relay Results

CINCINNATI -
The Flyer men had a very productive outing at the Early Bird Track and Field Relays hosted by University of Cincinnati.

The University of Dayton won two of the three events it entered and two runners were individual champions.

“We had a very successful meet and set many personal bests,” said UD Head Coach Rich Davis. “We are on track to do great things in the fall.”

To win an event, the team’s top two performances are added together and the combined best performances determine team place.

The Flyers won the 3,000-meter steeple chase behind the performances of junior Jeremy Schiele, who won the event in 9:23, and sophomore Tyler Roeth who took fourth place in a personal best time of 9:42.

UD also won the 5,000-meter run, sweeping the event with a one-two finish. Redshirt junior Greg Roeth was the individual champion in a personal best time of 14:41. Junior Stephen Mackell was runner-up, crossing the line in 15:07.

Dayton took fifth place overall in the 1,500-meter run. Freshman Kevin Kluesener ran a personal best of 4:08 and junior Derek Bornhorst tied his personal best with 4:16.

The Flyers are back in action at the Oliver Nikoloff Invitational hosted at University of Cincinnati next Friday and Saturday, March 30-31.
