DAYTON, Ohio – The University of Dayton Office of Academic Services for Student-Athletes held its annual Scholar-Athlete Awards reception Thursday in the UD Arena Boesch Lounge prior to the men’s basketball game against La Salle.

The reception was highlighted by the announcement of the Presidential Outstanding Scholar-Athlete Award, a prestigious honor which recognizes two student-athletes –one male and one female – who have demonstrated academic excellence, qualities of leadership, and service to the University and Dayton community. Junior men’s cross country standout Chris Lemon and junior women’s basketball player Kristin Daugherty are this year’s recipients of the Presidential Outstanding Scholar-Athlete Award.

The OASSA Academic Cup was awarded to the team with the highest cumulative grade point average. This year the winner of the Cup is Head Coach Sally Kosters’ Flyer women’s golf team with its 3.57 GPA.
