Biography: Matt Derenbecker was a key part off the Dayton bench in his first season in a Flyer uniform. The LSU transfer showed Flyer fans that he is capable of shooting from beyond the arc. Derenbecker shot .425 (37-of-87) from beyond the three-point line in his sophomore campaign, which was good enough for the 10th best three-point percentage for a single season in UD history.
Derenbecker’s ability to stretch the defense and score points from the outside was crucial for UD during the 2012-13 season. Derenbecker showed that he has the potential to drain multiple three-pointers in a game. He made at least two three-pointers in 10 games and had two games where he nailed at least four three-pointers.
Derenbecker had a slow start to his career as a Flyer. Through the first seven games, the sharpshooting forward from Metairie, Louisiana, shot just .278 (5-of-18) from beyond the arc. Over the next 24 games, Derenbecker found his rhythm and shot .464 (32-of-69) from beyond the arc.
Derenbecker ranked sixth in the Atlantic 10 conference in three-point percentage, and the Flyers will return the sharpshooting forward for his junior campaign in 2013-14.

Derenbecker’s three-point percentage of .425 (37-of-87) led the team and ranked sixth in the Atlantic 10 Conference. Overall, Derenbecker shot .417 (43-of-103) from the field.
Against Miami, Derenbecker made 2-of-3 three-pointers for six points. He scored a Dayton career-high of 15 points on 5-of-8 shooting from beyond the arc against Florida Atlantic.
Derenbecker scored seven points on 2-of-4 shooting from three-point range against Illinois State. In a pivotal non-conference game against Murray State, Derenbecker drained 4-of-6 three-pointers and finished with 14 points.
He scored 11 points on 3-of-4 shooting from beyond the arc and hauled in four rebounds vs. Fordham. At Xavier, Derenbecker connected on 3-of-5 three-pointers to finish with nine points.

At LSU
Derenbecker played in all 32 of LSU’s games in 2010-11. He started 16 games and finished the year with averages of 6.5 points and 2.1 rebounds a game. His production improved as the year went on. He started 15 of LSU’s 16 Southeastern Conference games and was the Tiger’s third-leading scorer in SEC play (8.3 ppg). His 18 steals also led LSU in the 16 conference contests.
