Games against ten teams that averaged almost 18 wins last year, and four more games in the Las Vegas Holiday Classic highlight the 2005-06 University of Dayton men's basketball non-conference schedule, which was announced today.

UD will open its third season under head coach Brian Gregory on Friday, November 18 when Ohio Valley Conference regular season champion Tennessee Tech visits UD Arena. Dayton goes on the road for the first time in 2005-06 the very next game, heading to Oxford to play Miami on Monday, November 21.

The Flyers return home to face Morehead State on Wednesday, November 23 before playing back-to-back NCAA teams--Creighton on Saturday November 26 and Cincinnati on Tuesday, November 29--to close out November.

Dayton then plays six straight games at home to begin the month of December. UD will host Pepperdine on Thursday, December 1, Grambling on Saturday, December 3, Central Michigan on Wednesday, December 7 and DePaul on Saturday, December 10 in the first ten days of the month.

The Flyers' last two games of the homestand will be in the Las Vegas Holiday Classic on Saturday, December 17 and Monday, December 19. The Las Vegas Holiday Classic plays the first two rounds of its tournament on campus sites before bringing all eight teams in the tournament to Las Vegas for games on Thursday, December 22 and Friday, December 23.

The Classic has announced six of the eight teams in the field. They are Cincinnati, Dayton, Florida A&M , LSU, Northern Iowa and Tennessee Tech. When the final two teams are determined, pairings for the Las Vegas Holiday Classic will be announced.

UD will complete the non-conference schedule at home on Friday, December 30 against Vanderbilt.

On the list of potential non-conference opponents for UD are teams from the Big East, the Mid-American Conference, the Mid-East Athletic Conference, the Missouri Valley Conference, the Ohio Valley Conference, the Southeastern Conference, the Southwestern Athletic Conference and the West Coast Conference.

After taking a veteran team to the NCAA Tournament in his first year, Gregory guided one of the youngest teams in the country (six freshmen averaged at least 11 minutes a game) to an 18-11 record in 2004-05, finishing tied for second in the A-10 West. CBS Sportsline.com and collegeinsider.com chose Gregory as their A-10 Coach of the Year. UD returns 10 of its 12 top players, including All A-10 forward Monty Scott, who led UD in scoring (11.1) and rebounding (4.6).
