ROTTERDAM -- The University of Dayton men’s basketball team opened the game with a 21-2 burst and never looked back, as the Flyers downed the Rotterdam Challengers professional team 95-49 Thursday in UD’s second game in as many days in the Netherlands.
Dayton led 46-18 at halftime. Seven Flyers scored at least eight points. Luke Fabrizius was Dayton’s top scorer with 21 points, followed by double-digit scorers Chris Johnson (16), Matt Kavanaugh (15), Josh Parker (11) and Kevin Dillard (10).
It was the second game this week for Rotterdam against an American college team. Mississippi State won its game by the score of 90-75 on Monday.
Before the game, the Flyers paid a visit to a U.S. Army garrison in Rotterdam, visiting children of the soldiers stationed there, and then meeting with the base commander, Col. William Moseley.
UD’s next game will be Saturday against St. Jan-Antwerp in Ghent, Belgium.
