Flyer basketball fans will get a chance to go down memory lane on December 17th during the halftime of the 12 p.m. EST UCLA-Michigan basketball game, as a part of a feature program by ESPN.
Beginning Monday, Nov. 14 and running through Thursday, March 30, every ESPN, ESPN2, and ESPNU men's basketball telecast will include an ESPNU "Pride of the Program" segment celebrating a historic moment from each of the 326 Division I programs in alphabetical order.
For Dayton, ESPN will highlight UD's 1966-1967 unbelievable run to the NCAA championship game, and specifically zero in on their sensational Final Four victory over the #4 North Carolina Tarheels, 76-62.
The Flyers would eventually be beaten in the `67 finals by John Wooden's UCLA Bruins 79-64, which went 30-0 that year and were led by basketball legend Lew Alcindor, who eventually changed his name to Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
The segments will also be available throughout the season after the original air date via ESPN360, ESPN.com and mobile ESPN.
