Dayton Coach Brian Gregory

"It was great for us to play a team like Findlay. They are well-coached, they play hard and they make you work for everything you get. That's why they have such a successful program, and why when you say `coach Niekamp and Findlay,' people know you are talking about a great basketball school. We appreciate them giving us really good test going into our first game next Friday with Tennessee Tech."

"We made some improvements from last week. We were more physical and we executed better."

"Monty (Scott) got to the free throw line eight times today. That's tremendous, because I think he only got to the line less than 50 times all of last year. He's being much more aggressive with the ball."

"Maybe the best thing we saw in the game is how we shared the ball. We made the extra pass. We made 33 baskets and they came off 27 assists. That's great. That shows that we are developing the willingness to give up a good shot for a great shot."

"We also missed 36 shots in the game and got 16 offensive rebounds. If guys look at every shot as an opportunity to make a hustle play, those are the kind of stats you'll see."

"You can work on those kinds of things in practice, but ultimately, it's up to the guys. You can talk about, and praise it when it happens, but when we come together as a team, good things like that come from them. We're starting to see that. A lot of our guys have logged a lot of minutes, and that's the benefit. I think we'll see more of that this year, and in years to come."

When asked what the team needs to improve on: "We need to improve on our ball screen coverage, especially on their point guard. Pfeifer (Findlay's senior guard) is an excellent point guard."

Sophomore Center/Forward Chris Alvarez

"The team won, and we did good things on offense. We didn't play defense as well in the second half, especially the bigs. Findlay played well."

"I felt good about my performance. I thought I defended well but I'd like to grab more rebounds."
