A-10 WEST SHOWDOWN NEXT AS BASEBALL TRAVELS TO GEORGE WASHINGTON

April 28, 2005

The top two teams in the Atlantic 10 West Division square off as First-place Dayton and second-place George Washington play a three-game series this weekend outside the Nation's Capital.

UD (23-15, 9-3 A-10) enters the weekend ranked second in the A-10 in batting average, runs scored and team ERA. The Flyers also have won six of their last seven conference games and are on their way to the best season in school history.

Junior Luke Trubee enters the weekend looking to mark his name into the UD record books. With his next win, Trubee would set a new school record with 10 wins this year and would match the career-win record of 19. He is 9-1 this season with a 2.41 ERA.

Classmate Craig Stammen also enters the series needing just eight strikeouts to move into fifth place all-time in program history. The righthander enters with 155 career strikeouts as a Flyer. Stammen is 5-5 with a 2.91 ERA this year.

Stammen and Trubee will begin the series on the mound for UD as they pitch the first and second games of Saturday's doubleheader respectively beginning at noon.

Senior lefty Kaleb Thompson will pitch for Dayton in the series finale Sunday, also at noon. The Flyers have won each of the last five games Thompson has started and he holds a 4-2 record this season with a 3.61 ERA.

All three games will be available live on GameTracker at www.DaytonFlyers.com.
