Aaron Dunsmore had an RBI against the Falcons

BOX SCORE

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio
– The University of Dayton Flyers lost to the Bowling Green State University Falcons 6-3 at Warren Steller Field on Tuesday.

Dayton drops to 16-21 this season as they were unable to capitalize with runners on base. The Flyers stranded nine against the Falcons.

Josh Jeffery was 2-for-3 in the contest with a pair of singles.  Aaron Dunsmore and Cole Tyrell both had RBI. Mike Coughlin also was 2-for-3 on Tuesday.

Bryce Lahrman is now 2-4 with the loss. Lahrman had seven strikeouts in six innings pitched. All six of the runs scored against him were earned. Chris Beesley pitched two innings of relief without allowing an earned run.

Tyrell scored Mitchell Nelson in the top of the first on a sacrifice fly to right field, giving UD a 1-0 advantage.

The Falcons struck in the second inning on a sacrifice fly, knotting the game at one apiece.  BGSU added five more runs through the fifth inning.

Coughlin scored in the top of the seventh inning after the Bowling Green catcher failed to tag home plate on a force out. Dunsmore singled home Jeffery in the next at-bat on a hotshot to first base. Despite the bases being loaded, the Flyers were unable to complete the rally as Tyrell struck out to end the top half of the inning.

Dayton returns to action on Wednesday against the Wright State Raiders. Eric Wagner will start the game against Wright State. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. ET at Nischwitz Stadium. Mike Ivcic will broadcast live on 1660 AM and www.DaytonFlyers.com.
