FLYERS SNAP SKID WITH 4-2 WIN OVER BOWLING GREEN

DAYTON, Ohio
– The University of Dayton Flyers took down the Bowling Green State University Falcons, 4-2 at Time Warner Cable on Saturday, snapping a three-game losing streak.

Junior Jimmy Roesinger was 2-for-3 on Tuesday with one run scored. Zach Jacob had a sacrifice fly, while Mitchell Nelson had an RBI double.

Eric Wagner earned his second win of the season, pitching 6.1 innings with three strikeouts and two earned runs against. Rookie Trent Haughn picked up his second save of the season, after throwing 2.2 innings with four strikeouts and no runs allowed.

The Flyers drew first blood scoring two runs in the bottom of the first inning. Nelson ripped a double down the left field line to score Joe Gayda. Jacob drove in Nelson after popping to shallow right field. The second basemen went to make a play on the ball, allowing Nelson to advance home safely despite the shallow hit.

Zach Blanchette doubled in the bottom of the second scoring Dan Welch and increasing the Flyer lead to 3-0. The Flyers added another marker as Roesinger charged home on a passed ball in the fifth inning.

The Falcons added runs in the sixth and the seventh, however Haughn struck out four batters in the last 2.2 innings of the game to secure his second save of the season.

Dayton returns to action tomorrow night at 6:00 p.m. at McKie Field in Oxford, Ohio against the Miami RedHawks. Mike Ivcic will call the game live with pregame comments from Coach Vittorio beginning at 5:30 p.m.
